Lockdown & rise of the gourmet food delivery
If you are in NSW like us, you have been in lockdown since June and now completely over the daily tasks such as cooking!
This time around the lockdown does seem to have been harder for most of us. Thankfully, we have had some new players come in the food delivery market to bring back some of the fun in cooking.
We have done our review of the popular delivery options in Sydney Metro right now. Hope this add some new options to your weekly meal prep.
For those of us looking for some gourmet options as the lockdown is longer and there are only so many home meals we can eat before we Sydneysiders start missing our faviourite restuarants, we have some exciting options.
Warning: some cooking is involved 🍲 🍴 👩🍳
-
Providoor
Newest kid on the block but has some of the biggest names in Sydney on their site. If you have been missing fine dining and looking for a multi-course experience at home, they are the place to try. Think Alberto’s Lounge, Bentley, Hubert, Neil Perry and more.
It’s $$$. And we have wondered in our house about the price. Considering it’s delivery and you have to complete some of the components at home, could the price have been reduced? But we then remember, how much we miss eating at these places and order anyway. -
Harvest Bite
An OzHarvest initiative, it also offers restuarant quality meals similar to Providoor. Unlike Providoor, their menu and participating restuarants change frequently. Think Nour, Firedoor, Hartsyard and more.
The prices can range from under $100 to over $150. We found our Harvest Bites order much more hearty, cheaper and generally involved less cooking. -
Vics Meats
A little unexpected, we know, but their ready made meals options are varied and when you are known for quality meat, you know you won’t be disappointed! Obviously vegatarians might want to skip this one.
They offer a mix of in-house cooked meals and collabs such as Chaco Bar’s Ramen. -
Uber Eats
This is more of a honourable mention and well, no list could be complete without Uber Eats. Yes, they have hiked up their delivery prices. Yes, they have introduced a new service fee. But you can’t argue with the fact they still have the largest offering in some areas. We are finding more and more gourmet/fine dining resturants are now on Uber. Sake, Bel & Brio, Bistro Rex and more. Sometimes you just want your meal cooked for you.
